The introduction of Sony's
affordable High Definition Video Camera, the Sony HDR-HC1 HDV is a
welcome addition to their line up. It allows you to record at higher
compression ratios than DV and features a big 2.7" LCD. It also
records onto standard DV tapes. Add the 2.8 megapixel digital still
capability and you've got a great start to your underwater
photography challenge.
Ocean Images has designed a housing to help you take advantage of
the great features of this Sony camcorder. In addition to our
electronic controls that access many of the camera functions, we've
added a mechanical control in our Professional model that gives you
access to the Auto/Manual focus switch and
the
Menu
control which gives you the ability to adjust white balance among
other options. This camera has an exceptionally large viewing screen
and Ocean Images has designed the underwater housing that allows you
to operate your Sony HC-1 camcorder with the screen in the open
position. This housing comes with a 52mm wide angle lens, sealed in
a machined aluminum port. The HC-1 housing works with both the
standard NP-FM50 battery and the extended life NP-QM71D battery.
The new HC-1 camcorder housing can also be used
with the new SONY HVR-A1U.
The microphone and control panel can be easily removed which then
allows it to fit in the HC-1 housing. A nice feature is that this
A1U camcorder has an "assignable" button on the right side
that appears can be assigned to control various camcorder
functions such as white balance. One mechanical control on the right side
could operate the W/B without having to go through the steps in the
Menu screen.
How many times have you drifted across a beautiful
coral reef, teeming with colorful tropical sea life to discover
that you forgot to remove the filter on your video camera. Too
late to fix the problem, you hope that your editing software will
help remove the mistake. With the internal flip filter on our
housings, the problem is solved. The flexibility to switch from
filter to no filter is always available and with our internal flip
filter, you don't have to worry about air bubbles getting trapped
between the housing lens and the filter.
