I bought a GL2 a few months ago and love it! When I looked around for a waterhousing I began to realize my options were extremely limited. More than one company recommended I sell my Canon and buy a Sony. Among other features, I happen to prefer the warmer colors I get off a Canon. I also didn't feel like taking a big loss by selling a barely used new camera. I spent a few weeks of research and decided to have Ocean Images (who also makes mostly Sony housings) build me a GL2 waterhousing from scratch. After doing considerable research, I knew most of the good and bad design points of waterhousings and Mike, the owner and designer at Ocean Images, was patient enough to listen to my ideas and work them into the new housing. I had to leave my GL2 with them for a few weeks but it was worth it. I got my camera and housing two weeks ago and I am completely satisfied with both the product and the company. Since they were located only 2.5 hours from me I was able to visit their manufacturing facility and deal with them in person. They have a clean, organized, honest and well-run family business and they were a pleasure to deal with.

The GL2 slides easily into the housing which allows the LCD screen to be open for easy viewing from the clear back panel. A LANC line plugs into the camera and is operated by an ergonomically designed set of handles that are very comfortable and intuitive to use. In fact, Ocean Images handles and electronic controls were the main reason I decided to go with them to begin with. An extra handle was added to the top to help carry it around and lift it in and out of dive boats. Dovetail "slides" on top and bottom were added to easily allow accessories to slide on and off.

Is it watertight? I mostly film surfing and kitesurfing (www.kiteflix.com) and have used the housing in brutal, pounding surf since day one. I was concerned myself and made sure I had proper insurance coverage beforehand, but not a drop of water has breached the seal and I'm gaining more confidence in it each day. One last thing, the prices of their housings are great too!

If anyone wants to see a photo of or a test video I made the first day I got the GL2 housing I'll be happy to send it because I don't think Ocean Images has any posted yet. Oh, and I do not work for Ocean Images nor am I affiliated with them in any way other than I am a very satisfied customer.
Cheers!
